Dental students have the opportunity to join national, state, and local chapters of dental organizations. These organizations offer many resources to students throughout their dental education and beyond. Pre-doctoral students join ASDA and the ADA at the same time, receiving benefits from both organizations. UMMC SOD student dues are automatically paid by UMMC through the Office of Student Affairs. Student members receive special benefits and resources to support them during school and help them prepare for a dental career. Through membership, students learn first-hand about the purpose of organized dentistry and how to work together to advance the profession. Be sure to visit the Member Center and the ADA Center for Professional Success to access your ADA member resources, including information on ergonomics, practice management and more. Every student, resident, and fellow enrolled at an ADEA Member Institution can belong to the American Dental Education Association at no cost. As a member you can increase your awareness about academic dentistry and develop leadership skills that you can apply throughout your entire dental career. As a student member of ADEA, you will have opportunities for scholarships, access to online resources and newsletters, and annual meeting and events.
Christian Medical & Dental Associations exist to glorify God by motivating, educating and equipping Christian healthcare professionals and students. CMDA provides resources, networking opportunities, education and a public voice for Christian healthcare professionals and students.
The Mississippi Association of Women Dentists is affiliated with the American Association of Women Dentists, an organization that has helped promote and foster the careers and interests of women in the field of dentistry for over 90 years. The Mississippi Chapter was formed in 2007, and currently has over 130 member dentists. The women of MAWD have proven their commitment to positive change and philanthropy.
The Mississippi State Dental Association is deeply committed to the development and success of its dental student members. As an MDA student member, you are part of a family of professionals dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the dental profession. As a dental student member, you will join the MDA in being the voice and advocate of organized dentistry in Mississippi. The Student Professionalism and Ethics Association in Dentistry is a national, student-driven association that was established to promote and support students' lifelong commitment to ethical behavior in order to benefit patients they serve and to further the dental profession.
The objectives of the Association are to act as a support system for students in strengthening their personal and professional ethics values by providing a resource for ethics education and development, by fostering a non-punitive, open-forum environment for ethics communication, and by promoting awareness of ethics standards and related issues within dentistry; and to collaborate with leadership of the dental profession to effectively advocate for our members.

The Hispanic Dental Association at UMMC is a group open to all students interested in advancing oral health in the Latinx and Hispanic communities. The goals of the HDA are:
- To promote and improve oral health in the Hispanic/Latinx and underrepresented communities.
- Educate others about the culture of Hispanic countries
- Enhancing proficiency in Spanish language in the UMMC School of Dentistry
